My visa ends on 6th September so I’m trying to organize getting home. First of all, Australia has cut down on all international flights again, so my flights are going to cost me an arm and a leg. Then, it was just announced that any Australians returning need to pay for their own all inclusive hotel quarantine which has been estimated at $3000. This is mandatory. On top of this, my partner can no longer come with me which was the plan, as only citizens and residents are allowed back until 2021, so it looks like we’ll have to do long distance for a while. Jobseeker in Australia ends in September (they are paying the majority of people’s wages as companies can’t afford it) So jobs will be sparse too. I’m at a loss of what to do right now and I don’t even know if extending my visa will be an option right now and my Mother is sick so getting home is important. I’ve also been told that extending your work visa (it’s a loophole, you get denied but it takes approximately 3 months to get denied and you can still work during that time) means you can’t come back on a second work visa in the future which is my plan on my UK passport at the end of 2021/ Beginning of 2022. If anyone here has some knowledge on this please message me ❤️ Sorry for the rant but you guys deserve an explanation on why the last few days have been a bit shit on here.
